Today in math we reviewed the multiplication strategy presented in lessons 4 and 7 before moving on to lesson five which focuses on estimating products.  In this lesson students are expected to be able to know when and how to estimate.  I explained to the class that sometimes an estimation is sufficient if it answers the question being asked. We did several examples on the board and I spent a large part of the class answering any questions that the students had.  For independant practice the class was assigned exercises 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 on page 323.  This will need to be completed for homework since we ran out of class time before music.

The class had music this morning.

In language arts, the class completed a reading comprehension exercise.  They were given a short text to read independantly followed by a series of questions to demonstrate their comprehension of the text.

In French, the class continued with their writing piece.

In science, we read and discussed the difference between natural and artifical light.  We talked about what makes a source of light natural vs artifical.

To end the day, the class had buddy reading with the grade two class!
