Today in math I introduced lesson 9 which talks about representing parts of a dollar as decimals.  We talked about how 0.79 is 79 cents of a dollar and we can represent that as a fraction 79/100 or a decimal 0.79.  We also discussed how this can be represented by 79 pennies or 7 dimes and 9 pennies.  We did several examples on the board and the class completed exercises 2, 3, 4, & 5 on page 238.  Those who did not finish will need to do so for homework.

In health, we talked about the importance of exercise in our daily lives.  I challenges the students to see how many push-ups they could do!  Very few got up to 10!

The class had gym outside today.  Even though the calendar says it is Spring, it is definitely still cold outside.  Please ensure your child continues to wear his/ her winter coat and hats and mittens to school.

In language arts, we are working our way through our various Varjak Paw exercises: character sketch, post card and facebook page.

In religion, we read and discussed the Easter story.  We will be doing some exercises and activities for Easter which is quickly approaching.  For one activity the students will need a well rinsed 2L milk carton.  Please send these along with your child in the near future.

To end the day, the class had music.
