Today in math we started chapter 6 on multiplication.  We looked at chapter 6 which introduces multplying by skip counting.  After the introduction we did three more exercises together as a class to reinforce the concept.  The class was assigned exercises 2, 6 & 7 on page 172-173 to complete individually.  Those who did not finish will need to finish for homework.

In language arts we read chapter 11-12 in our book study of Varjak Paw.  Varjak is still trying to find his way in the Outside.  We are introduced to a new cat, Tam.  Varjak also tries to continue on his mission.  Ask your child what his mission is and why he feels so discouraged at the end of chapter 12.

In art we completed a project that incorporates our last math unit on symetry.  The class started with their name written in bubble letters.  They had to create a symmetrical image in form and color of their name to complete the project.  As an art response the class will describe how their artwork was a good representation of symmetry based on what they learned in math.

To end the day we went to the library to exchange our books.

PLEASE NOTE:  Letters from the public health nurse regarding grade 4 vaccinations went home with your child yesterday.  Please complete the necessary form and return with your child.  They are due back by Friday, Feb. 3!
