It is hard to believe that today is the last day of November and term 1 is over!
Today in math, I introduced lesson 6 in chapter 1. This lesson continues our study of equations and how to use equations to solve problems. Since we learned how to create and use equations with patterns in our last lesson, the students were already familiar with the format. We looked at how to use the information given in a word problem to create an equation and use the equation to solve the problem. We did 3 examples on the board as a whole class, then the students worked on exercises 1, 3, 5 & 7a independently. Those who did not finish will need to do so for homework. We are almost finish this chapter on patterns and equations. There will be a test next Tuesday on chapter 1.
In religion we read about and discussed what it means to be a good Samaritan. During our discussion times, the students are always eager to share their own personal experiences. I love hearing their stories!
In language arts we continued with our short novel study on Tank and Fizz: The Case of the Slime Stampede. Today we read chapters 4-5. Ask your child to tell you about the unusual things happening to Tank, Fizz and their town!
In French we have started to organize and create our travel brochures about the different regions of France.
In Sciences the students recorded their observations from their fossil activity yesterday.
Parent-Teacher meetings are scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 1. I am looking forward to meeting with you all to discuss your child’s progress this term. Please note that school will dismiss at 11:30 on this day!
